Mount Hua

Mount Hua (simplified: 华山, traditional: 華山, pinyin: Huàshān, jyutping: waa4 saan1), also known as Huashan, is one of China’s Five Sacred Mountains (五岳), the Western Great Mountain. Located in Huayin, Shaanxi Province, it is the base of the Huashan School in Laughing in the Wind.

Overview

Mount Hua is the westernmost of the Five Sacred Mountains. Its five peaks—South Peak, East Peak, West Peak, North Peak, and Central Peak—rise steeply from the plains. The Huashan School has its headquarters on the mountain, where Yue Buqun leads his disciples in Huashan Swordplay and Violet Mist Power.

In Laughing in the Wind

The Ten Elders of the Sun Moon Order were lured into a cave on Mount Hua by the Five Mountains Sword Alliance and sealed inside. Before perishing, they carved their counter-techniques to each school’s swordplay onto the cave walls. Linghu Chong discovered these carvings while confined on Repentance Cliff (思过崖), where he also met Feng Qingyang and learned the Nine Swords of Dugu.
