The Greater Star Absorbing Technique (simplified: 吸星大法, traditional: 吸星大法, pinyin: Xīxīng Dàfǎ, jyutping: kap1 sing1 daai6 faat3) was a dangerous neigong in Laughing in the Wind that allowed practitioners to absorb others’ neili and convert it for their own use.
Overview
The technique derived from the Xiaoyao Sect’s Northern Darkness Divine Technique and Ding Chunqiu’s Power Transformation Technique. The practitioner had to maintain the dantian (丹田) in a state “like a deep valley, always like a deep box” to successfully execute the method.
Ren Woxing practiced the Greater Star Absorbing Technique while leading the Sun Moon Holy Order. When he suffered a qi deviation, Dongfang Bubai seized the opportunity to stage a coup and imprison him beneath Meizhuang.
Linghu Chong inadvertently learned the technique while imprisoned in Plum Manor and used it to absorb the neili of others. The absorbed energies from different sources caused chaotic internal conflict that threatened his life until Abbot Fangzheng arranged for him to learn the Tendon-transmuting Sutra, which resolved the conflict.
