Dragon Gate Armed Escort (simplified: 龙门镖局, traditional: 龍門鏢局, pinyin: Lóngmén Biāojú, jyutping: lung4 mun4 biu1 guk6), literally “Dragon Gate Escort Bureau,” was an armed escort agency in Lin’an (临安) led by Du Dajin. Du Dajin was a lay disciple of the Shaolin Order and was known in the jianghu as the “Many-Armed Bear” (多臂熊) for his skill with thrown weapons.
Yu Daiyan escort
Yin Susu entrusted the paralysed Yu Daiyan to the Dragon Gate Armed Escort to be transported from Lin’an (临安) to Mount Wudang (武当山). Du Dajin accepted a commission of two thousand taels of gold. However, the escort party was attacked at the foot of Mount Wudang by Asan, a monk from the Western Regions Shaolin Diamond Sect who was working for Prince Ruyang’s household. Yu Daiyan was crippled, and Yin Susu held Du Dajin responsible.
Destruction
Yin Susu and the Heavenly Eagle Order destroyed the Dragon Gate Armed Escort in retaliation. Du Dajin and his family were killed. The agency’s destruction illustrated the dangers of the jianghu and the consequences of failing to fulfill escort contracts.
