Hua Wanzi (simplified: 花万紫, traditional: 花万紫, pinyin: Huā Wànzǐ, jyutping: faa1 maan6 zi2), known as Cold Plum nüxia (寒梅女侠), was a third-generation disciple of the Snowy Mountain School and Bai Zizai’s youngest apprentice. She was known for her beauty and martial arts skills.
Biography
Training and service
Hua Wanzi was trained in the Snowy Mountain Swordplay by Bai Zizai. As a third-generation disciple, she was part of the “Wan” generation (万字辈) of the Snowy Mountain School, alongside Bai Wanjian, Feng Wanli, Geng Wanzhong, Wang Wanren, Ke Wanjun, Huyan Wanshan, Bao Wanye, and Wang Wanyi.
Encounter with Shi Potian
Hua Wanzi first encountered Shi Potian (mistaken for Shi Zhongyu) when he was holding the Xuantie Ling. She attempted to convince Xie Yanke to agree to the Snowy Mountain School’s conditions, but Xie Yanke saw through her plan and quickly left with Shi Potian.
Capture by the Changle Guild
Several years later, Hua Wanzi was captured by the Changle Guild along with other Snowy Mountain School disciples. When she encountered Shi Potian (who was now the Changle Guild leader, mistaken for Shi Zhongyu), she believed he was attempting to harass her due to his awkward speech and behavior, which was actually caused by his lack of worldly knowledge.
This misunderstanding led to conflict between the Snowy Mountain School and the Changle Guild, as Hua Wanzi and her fellow disciples believed Shi Zhongyu was mocking them.
Search for Shi Zhongyu
Hua Wanzi participated in the Snowy Mountain School’s search for Shi Zhongyu after he attempted to rape Bai Axiu and fled. She traveled with Bai Wanjian and other disciples throughout the jianghu, determined to bring Shi Zhongyu to justice.
