Biography

Leader of Golden Saber Stronghold

An Fengri was the zhangmen of the Golden Saber Stronghold, a martial arts organization in the jianghu. He was known for his expertise with the golden saber (金刀), a thick-backed, thin-bladed weapon that gleamed brilliantly in sunlight.

Competition for Xuantie Order

When the Xuantie Order appeared in the jianghu, An Fengri joined Feng Zhenwu and Taoist Yuancheng, also of the Golden Saber Stronghold, in attempting to obtain it. They encountered Shi Qing and Min Rou of Xuansu Manor, who were also seeking the order.

Duel with Shi Qing

An Fengri challenged Shi Qing to a duel, proposing that whoever gained the upper hand would win the Xuantie Order. He demonstrated his mastery of the 72-path Split Trigram Saber, a complex technique with hidden variations and multiple changes. However, Shi Qing’s Black and White Twin Swords proved superior, and after seventy exchanges, Shi Qing’s black sword (墨剑) touched An Fengri’s saber and slid down to his finger.

Shi Qing showed mercy by withdrawing his sword rather than severing An Fengri’s fingers, and even caught the falling saber to preserve An Fengri’s dignity. An Fengri was deeply grateful for this act of chivalry and acknowledged his defeat respectfully.

Later encounters

An Fengri later encountered Shi Qing again and always remembered the kindness shown to him, demonstrating that he was a man who understood gratitude and maintained proper jianghu etiquette.

Martial arts

An Fengri was skilled in the 72-path Split Trigram Saber (劈卦刀), a sophisticated saber technique that incorporated trigram principles with hidden variations and complex changes. His golden saber was a well-crafted weapon with a thick back and thin blade, making it both durable and sharp.
