Su Xizhi

Su Xizhi

Su Xizhi (simplified: 苏习之, traditional: 蘇習之, pinyin: Sū Xízhī, jyutping: sou1 zaap6 zi1) was a disciple of the Kunlun School who accidentally witnessed He Taichong practicing the Two Forms Sword Technique (两仪剑法) and was hunted down, but eventually married his pursuer Zhan Chun.

Biography

Accidental discovery

Su Xizhi accidentally witnessed He Taichong, the master of the Kunlun School, practicing the Two Forms Sword Technique, which violated the school’s prohibition against outsiders learning this technique. He Taichong ordered his disciples to hunt down Su Xizhi to prevent the secret from being leaked.

Pursuit and battle

Zhan Chun, a female disciple of He Taichong, was ordered to pursue Su Xizhi. During their encounter, the two fought and both were seriously wounded. They were on the verge of killing each other when Zhang Wuji intervened.

Rescue and reconciliation

Zhang Wuji rescued both Zhan Chun and Su Xizhi, treating their injuries. During their recovery, the two enemies developed feelings for each other and reconciled, putting aside their previous enmity.

Acceptance as disciple

After Zhang Wuji successfully cured He Taichong’s concubine Wu Gu, He Taichong was so pleased that he accepted Su Xizhi as a disciple, allowing him to officially learn the Two Forms Sword Technique that had caused so much trouble.

Marriage to Zhan Chun

He Taichong arranged for Su Xizhi to marry Zhan Chun, and the two lived happily together. Their story became a subplot during Zhang Wuji and Yang Buhui’s journey to Mount Kunlun.

Personality and traits

Su Xizhi was also timid and weak-willed. When Zhang Wuji was forced to drink poisoned wine by Ban Shuxian, Su Xizhi was too afraid to speak up in his defense, fearing that attention would turn to him.
