Sang Sanniang (simplified: 桑三娘, traditional: 桑三娘, pinyin: Sāng Sānniáng, jyutping: song1 saam1 noeng4) was a female elder of the Sun Moon Order and a high-ranking enforcer who defected to Dongfang Bubai when Dongfang Bubai usurped power from Ren Woxing.
Biography
Sang Sanniang was a senior elder of the Sun Moon Order who held a position as a high-ranking enforcer within the order’s hierarchy. When Dongfang Bubai usurped power from Ren Woxing, Sang Sanniang defected to Dongfang Bubai’s side, demonstrating the opportunistic nature of many order members.
Investigation at Plum Manor
After Ren Woxing escaped from his imprisonment at Plum Manor (梅庄), Sang Sanniang, along with Bao Dachu, Qin Weibang, and Wang Cheng, was sent by Yang Lianting to investigate the escape. They were tasked with interrogating the Four Friends of Jiangnan and determining what had happened.
When Ren Woxing revealed himself and exposed Dongfang Bubai’s conspiracy, Sang Sanniang was forced to submit to Ren Woxing’s authority. She demonstrated the traits of a seasoned order member by quickly assessing the situation and making a decision to submit. She was among the first to take the Three Corpse Brain Pill (三尸脑神丹) and swear loyalty to Ren Woxing, stating: “From this day forward, I pledge loyalty to the leader, never to have a second thought.”
She then assisted Ren Woxing in completing the interrogation of the Four Friends of Jiangnan, demonstrating her adaptability and survival instincts.

As a high-ranking enforcer, Sang Sanniang’s responsibilities included:
