Luo Xin (Chinese: 罗信, pinyin: Luó Xìn), known by his nickname the Iron-Armed Arhat (铁臂罗汉), is one of the Six Devils of Guandong (关东六魔) in The Book and the Sword. He specialises in the Five Elements Fist (五行拳) and wields a long whip as his primary weapon.
Role in the novel
Luo Xin enters the story when Jiao Wenqi, another of the Six Devils, recruits him and Bei Renlong to take revenge on the Wudang master Lu Feiqing. Jiao Wenqi holds a grudge after Lu Feiqing bested him years earlier.
The three men ambush Lu Feiqing at night in the hills west of Fufeng. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Lu Feiqing fights back. In the confrontation, Lu Feiqing kills both Luo Xin and Bei Renlong. Jiao Wenqi’s revenge attempt ends in disaster, with two of his allies dead.
