Dafu

Dafu (simplified: 大夫, traditional: 大夫, pinyin: dàfū, jyutping: daai6 fu1) was a senior official or noble title in ancient China, used during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. Dafu could denote a high-ranking minister, a noble rank, or a category of officials who served the feudal lords.

Usage

In Sword of the Yue Maiden, set in the Spring and Autumn period, dafu may appear when referring to figures such as Fan Li (范蠡) or Wen Zhong (文仲), who served as senior advisors or ministers to the King of Yue. The term reflects the bureaucratic and aristocratic hierarchy of the era.
