Zhuer (simplified: 蛛儿, traditional: 蛛儿, pinyin: Zhū’ér, jyutping: zyu1 ji4), meaning “Spider,” was the nickname of Yin Li (殷离), the daughter of Yin Yewang and granddaughter of Yin Tianzheng. She was Zhang Wuji’s maternal cousin and one of his love interests. The nickname “Spider” came from her practice of the Thousand Spider Myriad Poison Hands technique, which involved handling poisonous spiders and ultimately disfigured her appearance.
Zhuer and Yin Li are the same person—the novel refers to her by both names depending on context. For detailed information about this character, please see the article on Yin Li.
