Young Master Liu

Young Master Liu (simplified: 刘公子, traditional: 劉公子, pinyin: Liú Gōngzǐ, jyutping: lau4 gung1 zi2) was the elder son of Liu Zhengfeng and Madam Liu, and the elder brother of Liu Jing and Liu Qin. He was tragically killed during the Songshan School’s massacre at the Golden Basin Handwashing ceremony.

Biography

Young Master Liu was the eldest son of Liu Zhengfeng, a prominent master of the South Hengshan School. He grew up in a martial arts family and was present at his father’s Golden Basin Handwashing ceremony, where Liu Zhengfeng intended to formally retire from the jianghu.

Golden Basin Handwashing ceremony

When the Songshan School attacked during the ceremony, Young Master Liu was among the family members targeted. He was killed by Di Xiu, one of the Songshan disciples, along with his mother and sister. His death was part of the Songshan School’s brutal campaign to eliminate Liu Zhengfeng’s family.

Personality & traits

As a minor character, Young Master Liu’s personality is not deeply explored. He was presumably a dutiful son who supported his father’s decisions and was caught up in the tragic events that befell his family.

Martial arts abilities

Young Master Liu may have received some martial arts training from his father, but his skills were not sufficient to defend against the Songshan School’s attack. He was killed along with other family members who were not professional martial artists.

Relationships

  • Liu Zhengfeng: His father, whose friendship with Qu Yang led to the family’s tragedy.
  • Madam Liu: His mother, who was also killed in the massacre.
  • Liu Jing: His sister, who was also killed in the massacre.
  • Liu Qin: His younger brother, the only family member to survive.

Behind the scenes

Young Master Liu’s character represents the innocent victims of the jianghu’s brutal sectarian conflicts. His death, along with that of his mother and sister, highlights the devastating consequences of the Songshan School’s ruthless pursuit of power. His character contributes to the tragic weight of Liu Zhengfeng’s story and underscores the theme that innocent people are often caught in the crossfire of martial arts politics.
