Chang Jinpeng

Chang Jinpeng (simplified: 常金鹏, traditional: 常金鵬, pinyin: Cháng Jīnpéng, jyutping: soeng4 gam1 paang4) was the master of the Vermilion Bird Altar (朱雀坛) of the Tianying Order. As one of the Five Outer Altars masters, he was responsible for the Order’s southern regional operations. He participated in the Wangpan Island Sabre Conference, where he was likely killed or rendered insane by Xie Xun’s Lion’s Roar technique.

Encounter with Xie Xun

During the conference, Xie Xun, the Golden-Haired Lion King of the Ming Order, suddenly appeared and seized the Dragon-Slaying Dao. Xie Xun, who held a grudge against Yin Tianzheng for leaving the Ming Order, intended both to take the sabre and to embarrass the Tianying Order.

To prevent anyone from revealing his location, Xie Xun used his Lion’s Roar technique, a powerful sonic attack that used neili to create devastating sound waves. With a single roar, he could render dozens of people unconscious or insane, demonstrating the technique’s incredible power.

Death or incapacitation

Chang Jinpeng, along with most of those present at the conference, was affected by Xie Xun’s Lion’s Roar. The technique caused widespread devastation, with many martial artists either killed, rendered unconscious, or driven insane by the powerful sonic attack.
