Xue Que (simplified: 薛鹊, traditional: 薛鵲, pinyin: Xuē Què, jyutping: sit3 zoek3) was the third disciple of the King of Venoms (毒手药王) and a treacherous apprentice. She conspired with her martial siblings to seize the Medicine King Divine Record (药王神篇) and was eventually killed by Cheng Lingsu’s posthumous trap. She was a significant antagonist in Side Story of the Flying Fox.
Biography
Apprenticeship and betrayal
Xue Que was one of the four disciples of the King of Venoms, along with Murong Jingyue, Jiang Tieshan, and Cheng Lingsu. She was married to Jiang Tieshan and had a son with him. However, like her other martial siblings, she was ambitious and greedy, primarily interested in seizing the Medicine King Divine Record for her own selfish purposes.
She conspired with Murong Jingyue and Jiang Tieshan to obtain the manual after their master’s death. She also killed Murong Jingyue’s wife.
Conflict with Cheng Lingsu
Xue Que, along with Murong Jingyue and Jiang Tieshan, repeatedly attempted to steal the Medicine King Divine Record from Cheng Lingsu. They attacked her at the Medicine King Manor, but Cheng Lingsu, having anticipated their treachery, had set up a series of traps.
Death
Xue Que was eventually killed by Cheng Lingsu’s posthumous trap, which involved the deadly Seven Heart Begonia (七心海棠) poison. She died alongside her martial siblings, Murong Jingyue and Jiang Tieshan, as a consequence of their greed and betrayal.
Personality
Xue Que was depicted as a cold-hearted, cunning, and ruthless individual. She was driven by avarice and showed no loyalty to her martial siblings or even her husband when it came to obtaining the Medicine King Divine Record. Her character highlighted the destructive nature of greed within the martial arts world.
