Wang Weiyang (simplified: 王维扬, traditional: 王维揚, pinyin: Wáng Wéiyáng, jyutping: wong4 wai4 joeng4) was a veteran escort guard and martial artist in The Book and the Sword. His nickname, “Awe-inspiring across Hebei” (威震河朔), reflected his unrivalled reputation among the martial arts underworld north of the Yangtze.

Biography

Wang Weiyang began his career as an escort guard at the age of thirty. Armed with a Bagua Sword and proficient in Bagua Palm, he fought his way through the jianghu of northern China without encountering a single worthy opponent. By the time he appears in the novel, he is sixty-two years old and still regarded as one of the most formidable martial artists of his generation.
