Shenyin (simplified: 神音, traditional: 神音, pinyin: Shén Yīn, jyutping: san4 jam1) was a monk from the Cooling Temple on Mount Wutai and the younger brother of Shenshan Shangren, the temple’s abbot. He was known for his involvement in bringing the Indian monk Zheluoxing to meet his brother, which led to a confrontation at Shaolin Order.
Biography
Meeting Zheluoxing
Shenyin encountered the Indian monk Zheluoxing when the latter came to Cooling Temple. The two monks fought for half a day and developed mutual respect, exchanging names. When Zheluoxing revealed that his younger brother had been detained at Shaolin Order, Shenyin, eager to help his new friend and wanting to show off his brother’s martial prowess, offered to take him to meet Shenshan Shangren.
Bringing Zheluoxing to Shenshan
Shenyin told Zheluoxing that his brother Shenshan Shangren was invincible in martial arts and had never regarded Shaolin Order highly. He brought Zheluoxing to meet Shenshan, setting in motion the events that would lead to the confrontation at Shaolin Order.
