Seven-Injury Fist (simplified: 七伤拳, traditional: 七傷拳, pinyin: Qīshāng Quán, jyutping: cat1 soeng1 kyun4) is the signature technique of the Kongtong School. The name means “seven injuries” because the fist strikes seven internal organs: heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, yang bladder, and yin bladder. It can inflict severe internal damage on opponents.
Drawback
Improper cultivation damages the practitioner’s own organs. The technique requires robust neili to practise safely. Xie Xun obtained the manual from Kongtong’s Qingyang Temple (with Cheng Kun’s secret assistance) and learned the technique, but suffered internal injury as a result. Zong Weixia was healed of his Seven-Injury Fist internal injuries by Zhang Wuji at Bright Peak.
In the novel
Chang Jingzhi practised the Seven-Injury Fist and fought at Bright Summit. Kongjian died when Xie Xun struck him with the technique at Luoyang. Du Baidang, Yi Sanniang, and the Qinghai Three Swords devised techniques to counter the Seven-Injury Fist when preparing to attack Shaolin.
