Huduhu

Huduhu (simplified: 忽都虎, traditional: 忽都虎, Jyutping: fat1 dou1 fu2, pinyin: Hūdūhǔ) was a historical Mongol military commander and sworn brother of Temüjin who later became Genghis Khan. He was one of Temüjin’s most trusted companions and military leaders.

Biography

Huduhu was Temüjin’s sworn brother and one of his most trusted military commanders. During a critical battle, Huduhu led 3,000 elite troops to defend Temüjin’s position on a hill, fighting alongside the fierce warrior Jelme. Despite being outnumbered and running out of arrows, Huduhu demonstrated exceptional courage and loyalty.

When Jelme questioned his retreat, Huduhu explained that he had run out of arrows. Temüjin, despite being wounded, threw him a bundle of arrows from his own quiver. Huduhu used these arrows to shoot down an enemy general from his horse, then charged down the hill to capture the general’s horse and return to Temüjin’s side.

Huduhu’s unwavering loyalty was evident when he knelt before Temüjin, pleading with him to consider his own safety despite the troops’ willingness to die for their leader.

Huduhu was characterized by his exceptional loyalty and courage. He demonstrated unwavering devotion to Temüjin, willing to fight to the death for his sworn brother. The character is based on the historical Huduhu, a real Mongol military commander who served during the Yuan Dynasty. He was a member of the Maijiliji clan and a descendant of Sauγur. He served as a military commander during the Yuan Dynasty, participating in numerous campaigns including the conquest of the Southern Song Dynasty.
