Our Story
Since March 2007, WuxiaSociety has carried the torch for the global wuxia community.
When several major wuxia websites disappeared—including the original WuxiaSociety.org and Wuxiapedia—we stepped forward to preserve this vital cultural heritage.
Wuxiamania launched
The community was born as Wuxiamania on June 10, 2005, when a group of wuxia enthusiasts came together to share their love for Chinese martial arts fiction on Phorumz.
Wuxiamania went offline
Wuxiamania went offline due to unknown reasons. There were several failed attempts to revive the community.
WuxiaSociety.org launched
The community returned as WuxiaSociety.org with a promise of a relaunch of the forum on 9 March 2007 that never happened.
Wuxiapedia went offline
Launched on 2 June 2005, Wuxiapedia closed down after running for a year and 10 months.
WuxiaSociety.com launched
We finally acquired the domain name and relaunched WuxiaSociety in its current form.
10th anniversary and beyond

A Personal Journey
Hi, I'm Jenxi Seow, founder of WuxiaSociety. As a bilingual ethnic Chinese Malaysian, my journey with wuxia began in a Mandarin-speaking household, watching countless adaptations.
My early success in Chinese writing competitions was matched by a growing passion for Western fantasy literature, giving me a unique perspective on both traditions. The turning point came when I encountered Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils in my Chinese textbook—it opened my eyes to appreciating wuxia beyond TV adaptations.
When I witnessed valuable translation works vanishing as community sites shut down, I knew I had to act to preserve this cultural heritage.
